Japanese Glass Fishing Float, Teal Blue, Frosted, Alaska Beachcombed

Welcome to Glass Float Junkie!

This beautiful glass fishing float is originally from Japan.  It was handblown using recycled glass prior to the early 1970's & after 1910.  It was used by Japanese fishermen for salmon gillnet fishing in the Bering Sea.  The float was beachcombed on a remote beach along the coast of the Aleutians in Alaska.

The float originally had a net on it, which connected it to the large gillnet.  The nets often disintegrate & fall off after exposure to the elements, such as the sun, saltwater, surf & sand.  The frosted areas were created from the sand.

Size:  3.2" in diameter
Color:  Teal Blue

This is a lovely float with lots of character!
