Welcome to Glass Float Junkie!

This beautiful glass fishing float is originally from Japan.  It was handblown using recycled glass prior to the early 1970's & after 1910.  It was used by Japanese fishermen for salmon gillnet fishing in the Bering Sea.  The float was beachcombed on a remote beach along the coast of the Aleutians in Alaska.

The nylon net is original & it once connected the float to a large gillnet.  The nets often disintegrate & fall off after exposure to the elements, such as the sun, saltwater, surf & sand.  This one stayed intact!  The frosted areas on the float are from when it rolled in the sand.

Size:  3.2" in diameter
Color:  Blue/Green

This gem would be great hanging in a window!
